Hardware Design and Development

AES Engineers, develop new designs and electronics packaging approaches, conduct reverse engineering studies and generates new solid model sub-assemblies utilizing Pro-Engineer 3D solid modeling tools. Output from those tools can be used to create manufacturing drawings and a Bills of Material. AES performs analysis for expected structural and thermal performance under specified environments. AES engineering analyses support:

  • Development of internal component design approaches (CCA partitioning, layout and mounting)
  • Evaluation of internal component clearances, tolerance analysis, interferences, potting gaps, and subassembly outlines
  • Improved thermal conductivity of mounted components
  • Reliability improvement
  • Evaluation of repairability and maintainability

Reliability, Maintainability & System Safety

AES performs Reliability Prediction, FMECA, Safety Assessment and Fault Tree Analyses using the PTC’s Relex Software Tools. AES has supported the design efforts of the following systems and subsystems:

  • NASA Crew Launch Vehicle (CLV) System: Automatic Destruct Unit (ADU)
  • Army UH-60: Power Supply, CPU, and EMI filter for the EMC-101 avionics equipment
